50TH ANIVERSARY CUP CHALLENGE-SATURDAY  11TH JULY 2009

START

The START will be on a LINE from the DOLPHIN at the Harbour Entrance  to the MILL ROCK BUOY.  N.B. A ll boats must pass between the YELLOW BUOY and the MILL ROCK BUOY and
failure to do so will result in disqualification.

COURSE
The COURSE will be as follows;-
1) From the START leaving the GREEN CRAB ROCK BUOY to Port  proceed to the YELLOW      SEWAGE OUTFALL BUOY approximately 1 mile NW of the entrance to Ayr Harbour
 55degrees 28.8N ,4degrees 39.85W leaving it to STARBOARD.
2) From the YELLOW OUTFALL BUOY proceed to LADY ISLE leaving it to STARBOARD.
3) From LADY ISLE proceed to the MILL ROCK BUOY leaving it to PORT
4) From the MILL ROCK BUOY  proceed  to BEECHAMS BUOY leaving it to STARBOARD
5) From BEECHAMS leave LAPPOCK to STARBOARD
6) From LAPPOCK  proceed  to the FINISH between  the MILL ROCK BUOY and the DOLPHIN
    Leaving the MILL ROCK BUOY to PORT.
SHORTENED COURSE
At the discretion of the OFFICER OF THE DAY the course may be shortened and this will take place at the MILL ROCK BUOY after LADY ISLE HAS BEEN ROUNDED. This shortening of the COURSE will be notified  by flying a RED FLAG  at the Dolphin as the LEADING BOAT is approaching the MILL ROCK BUOY and at the same  time  two blasts on the hooter will be sounded. In this event all boats will FINISH leaving the MILL ROCK BUOY to PORT.
STARTING TIMES AND SIGNALS
Warning Signal
12.50 hours                           Three long blasts will be sounded
Preparatory Signal              
12.55 hours                           Two long blasts will be sounded
Starting Signal
1300hours                             One long blast will be sounded
PREMATURE STARTERS
Any boat having any part of its hull or gear over the LINE PRIOR TO THE STARTING SIGNAL WILL INCUR A 4 MINUTE PENALTY.
LATE STARTERS
Any  starters who miss the Starting Signal may motor to the Starting Area, (I.e  near the Mill Rock Buoy). ,shut off their engine and then carry out a  360 degree turn under sail prior to crossing the Starting Line. Under no other circumstances should a starter in a race be under power after the Preparatory 5 minute signal has been sounded.
HANDICAPS
Club Handicaps as published on the RACE NOTICE BOARD based on CYCA will apply. Anyone wishing not to use a Spinnaker will receive an Allowance dependant on  notification  being received  by the Duty Officer  prior to the Start of the Race.
TIME LIMIT
All racing shall cease at 17.30 hours unless only a single boat  finishes within this time in which case a 60 minute extension  will be applied until 18.30 hours.
RULES
A ll racing  will be held under the “ Racing Rules  of Sailing” as laid down by the I.S.A.F.
BRIEFING
A BRIEFING will be held in the Clubhouse at 1200 hours.
